Community development service: Ukala Medical Foundation gives free Medical treatment to Mbiri People

MBIRI- As part of efforts to promote the development of the health sector and strengthen the Civic space in the state, Ukala Medical Foundation led by its CEO, Dr. Gabriel . C . Ukala embarked on two days free Medical treatment at Mbiri Community, on the 20th and 21st of April 2019.

The CEO of Ukala Medical Foundation, and one of the board of trustees, Prof. Anyiwe Ada Mercy during an interview with the Newsmen at Mbiri in Ika-North East Local Government Area of Delta state stated that giving back to the society has always been the cardinal tradition of Ukala's family.

Dr Ukala who was accompanied by members of the Board of trustees of the foundation alongside other specialist doctors, pharmacist and nurses stormed the Community for two days free Medical treatment with drugs and medical equipment for check-ups diagnoses and treatment of patients. The community people held down by different ailments turned out enmass for the health delivery services and wellness.

Dr. Ukala being the son of the soil said that it has become necessary to give back to the society through Community services, and support to the two ill and vulnerable who are unable to source or afford the needed health care, also that it is imperative to complement the Delta State Government efforts through the support of  Non-profit organizations for sustainable health care.

Prof Sam Ukala in an opening speech, said that the event was meant to show love to the community of their origin and that soon such events will cover other communities in Delta.
Ukala Medical foundation has lived up to its expectations in line with some of  its organizational objectives which include: To provide Medical consultative and diagnostic services, to ensure every child is immunized against common communicable diseases, promote medical guidance, where possible treatment to certain individuals whose ailments require specialists care as community people were given free drugs, and treatments to  those with eye, ear, teeth, and other health related problems. And these were professionally handled by specialists’ doctors.

In an interview with some Women, Youths and Children in the Community, the people Commended Ukala Medical Foundation for coming to their aid and said that the event was first of its kind in the community but were not surprised since it is initiated by Ukala's family which is well known for education. According to them, Ukala Medical Foundation has ameliorated, reduced the health challenges of both the old and young in the community with the help of specialist Doctors on eye (ophthalmologist), teeth (Dentist), pharmacists and others and prayed God’s blessings to visit the Foundation.

In an interview with some of the Community stakeholders in the area, some of who were beneficiaries of the free Medical treatment, the people commended the Ukala Medical Foundation for coming to the aid of the community since a lot of health grounds were covered. They testified that the programme is in line with Governor Okowa's SMART agenda policy on improved and affordable Health Care services and development of the rural areas and advised the Foundation not to relent. They also called to other organizations to emulate the good works of Ukala Medical Foundation.
