Stakeholders involvement, Panacea to Africa's Maternal and Childcare development - Dr. Oseji

ASABA- The National President, Medical Women's Association of Nigeria ( MWAN), Dr.     Mrs. Mininim .I. Oseji has appealed to Stakeholders, Young male Doctors (Medical Practitioners) in Nigeria and African continent to brace up to the Challenges of Child care development.

Dr. Oseji who doubled as the permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Health disclosed this to our reporter while fielding questions from Newsmen during a four days symposium at the 21st Biennial conference and general Assembly of Medical Women's Association of Nigeria (MWAN) held on 12th - 15th September, 2019 at Orchid Hotel, DBS Road, Asaba, Delta State soon after her inauguration as the president of the Association harped on the essence of the Workshop.

The Medical Scientist while Commending the huge achievements of the past administration, National Executives, urged other professional colleagues, civil Society Organizations, and most importantly male Doctors to join the campaign for the support of the Women's rights, strengthening of the child's rights laws and avoidance of harmful practices against Widows in the Country Nigeria and other African countries.

She Commended the exploits of her predecessor, the immediate past National  president of the Association, Dr. Joycee Barber on her, National Executives' achievements in office in the past two years (2017-2019), which included amongst others: The Establishment of different branches in the country and eventual inauguration of the  Executives in  about twenty- nine states of the Federation.

In her words: "Both Stakeholders and male Doctors should join hands with other Medical Practitioners in this perspective to proffer solutions, using problem solving approach to meet the challenges of delivering quality health for Women and Children, support our prospects and interventions, which is striving for medical care in Nigeria and other Africa countries".

" The immediate past Executives Leadership is  the first  to organize a symposium in Abuja on Women healthcare coverage, the health activities has impacted on the lives of Nigerians at the grassroots".

" Our resource persons had performed excellently, having dwelt widely on the theme: " Male involvement in Maternal and Healthcare. And other sub- themes: "Maternal and Neo- Maternal Elimination of harmful Traditional Practices against Women, economic empowerment of Women Health and overcoming Intimate Partner Violence".

"We blessed the almighty God for the new National Executives of this great Association, which am now the president. We  thank everyone on their immense support all through this program and the eventual election of the the in- coming president. We will continue from where my predecessor stopped to make Medical Profession viable in Nigeria. We pledged new growth and development, Substainable economic development for Women all over the country and Africa ( 2019-2021)".

She then applauded  the BOT Members, past president of the Association, the Executives, the new  President - elect that will undergo mentorship under her care, Stakeholders who were present, other professional bodies,  State branches of the Association in the country, other critical Stakeholders that  witnessed, came for her inauguration for making the program a success in Delta State as Chief host, adding that the gesture will promote Sustainable Maternal Healthcare in Nigeria and African continent.
